A vendor selection matrix is a structured decision tool that scores each vendor on weighted criteria — cost, support, security, etc. — so you can objectively rank options and justify your choice. Use it any time you are evaluating two or more suppliers and need a transparent, repeatable process.
How do I choose the right criteria and weights?
Start with your must-haves (compliance, budget ceiling) and assign them the highest weights — typically 4 or 5 on a 5-point scale.
