FAQ

Questions about org chart templates

How deep should an org chart go?

Show the levels that are relevant to your audience. For a board presentation, 2–3 levels is enough. For an onboarding doc, you may go 4–5 levels to show individual contributors.

Can I show dotted-line reporting?

Yes — describe the indirect or matrix reporting relationship and the AI adds a dashed line between the nodes.

What is the difference between an org chart and a team topology diagram?

An org chart shows formal reporting lines. A team topology diagram shows how teams interact (stream-aligned, platform, enabling) regardless of reporting. Both can be built with ChatDiagram.
