DC-to-AC Half-Bridge Inverter

A half-bridge inverter uses two complementary MOSFETs switching in alternation to produce a square-wave AC output from a DC bus. A 100 Ω gate resistors limit switching transients, and an LC filter (100 µH + 10 µF) smooths the output.

O cenário

An EE student designing a power-conversion lab project needs a schematic for a half-bridge inverter stage.

O que há neste desenho

Entenda as decisões por trás dele.

01Complementary PMOS/NMOS pair

PMOS conducts when gate is LOW, NMOS when HIGH — natural deadtime avoids shoot-through.

02

100 Ω gate resistors damp ringing without severely slowing switching speed.

03

LC filter forms a second-order low-pass below switching frequency to reconstruct the sine.

Scale to full-bridge (4 MOSFETs) for higher output power; replace PMOS with N-channel + bootstrap driver for efficiency at higher voltages.
