Are the drawings to scale?
House and apartment plans are drawn to scale by a dedicated floor-plan engine. Deck, framing and part drawings are freeform: every dimension you give is written on the drawing, but the proportions are drawn by the model, so check them before you cut.
Can I use it for a building permit?
Use it to explain your project. Anything that must pass inspection should be checked, and usually stamped, by a licensed professional.
Feet and inches or metric?
Either. Write the numbers the way you work and the drawing uses the same units.
Can I change one thing without redrawing it all?
Yes. Say what is different, for example “make the deck 14 ft deep”. The new version is drawn from the old one and both are kept.
