What a CCTV network diagram is.
A CCTV network diagram shows how IP cameras deliver video to a recorder and viewing stations. It identifies camera locations, PoE switches, NVRs, network links and any firewall or wireless bridge in the path.
Use it to plan an installation, document a handoff, or trace a camera that has stopped recording. A camera VLAN can make the video segment and its access boundary clear without cluttering the drawing with unrelated office devices.

Common questions
What is a CCTV network diagram?
It is a visual map of an IP surveillance system, showing cameras, PoE switches, recorders, viewing stations and the network paths between them.
What is the difference between an NVR and a DVR?
An NVR records video from IP cameras over a network. A DVR is typically used with analog cameras connected by coaxial cable.
How do I show PoE camera connections?
Connect each camera to a PoE-capable switch and label the link as PoE. That shows the Ethernet connection supplies both network data and power.
Why put cameras on their own VLAN?
A separate VLAN groups camera traffic and can support access controls that limit which devices can reach cameras and the recorder.
