What a flow map is.
A flow map is a visual path through a set of related steps. It can show a plan, a delivery process or a decision sequence, with arrows that make order, branching and feedback easy to follow.
It is deliberately flexible: use it when a linear list hides important choices or loops. Give each stage a short action label, then connect it to the next stage or outcome.

Common questions
What is a flow map?
A flow map is a connected visual representation of a process, plan or sequence of decisions. It uses nodes and arrows to show how one step leads to another.
How is a flow map different from a flowchart?
A flowchart usually follows a defined process notation. A flow map is a broader term for mapping a path through work, ideas or decisions; it can use the same connected-step structure.
What makes a useful flow map?
Use short stage names, include the decisions that actually change the path and show feedback loops where work returns for another pass. Keep the scope to one goal or journey.
How do I start a flow map?
Name the starting point and desired outcome, list the major stages between them, then describe any decisions or loops. Refine individual nodes once the overall path is clear.
