What a package diagram is.
A package diagram is a high-level UML view of how software is organized. Each package groups related classes, services or namespaces, while dependency arrows show which package uses another.
Use it to talk about module boundaries and coupling, not every type in the codebase. A class diagram describes detailed types and relationships; a package diagram keeps the focus on larger architectural responsibilities.

Common questions
What is a package diagram used for?
It shows how a system is grouped into modules, namespaces or layers and how those groups depend on each other.
How is a package diagram different from a class diagram?
A package diagram focuses on high-level organization and dependencies. A class diagram models the detailed types, members and relationships inside a system.
What should a package contain?
Put elements with one coherent responsibility together, such as a feature area, layer, bounded context or namespace.
How detailed should it be?
Show the packages and dependencies that matter to the decision at hand; use representative classes only when they clarify a package's role.
