Nothing close enough? Start from a blank single‑line diagram → Describe it in one paragraph.
How to use a single‑line diagram template.
- 01Describe the PV system size and configuration
Example: '20kW rooftop system, 4 strings of 10 panels at 400W each, SMA STP20000TL-US string inverter, 240V AC service, net metering interconnection.' Include the utility voltage and inverter make/model if known.
- 02AI generates the single-line diagram
ChatDiagram draws the PV source circuits, DC combiner (if any), DC disconnect, inverter, AC disconnect, production meter, and utility tie point using standard SLD symbols.
- 03Add overcurrent and disconnect devices
Specify fuse or breaker ratings for each circuit. ChatDiagram will add OCPD symbols with ratings and any required rapid shutdown devices per NEC 690.12.
- 04Include battery storage if applicable
Describe the battery inverter or AC-coupled storage system. ChatDiagram will add the battery system to the SLD showing the connection point and transfer switch if present.
- 05Export for permit submission
Download as SVG or PDF-quality PNG. The clean vector output meets the drawing quality requirements for AHJ permit packages and utility interconnection applications.
Questions about single‑line diagram templates
Does the SLD include NEC-required labels and ratings?
Yes. ChatDiagram annotates conductor sizes (AWG), conduit types, voltage ratings, and OCPD ratings on each circuit segment. You can ask it to add specific NEC label text such as 'WARNING: DUAL POWER SOURCE' where required.
Can it show a rapid shutdown system (RSS)?
Yes. Describe the rapid shutdown initiation device location and ChatDiagram will add the RSS symbol and note compliance with NEC 690.12 on the SLD.
Does ChatDiagram support three-phase commercial PV SLDs?
Yes. Specify a 3-phase inverter output and the SLD will show the three-phase service connection, 3-pole breakers, and delta or wye transformer connection if applicable.
Can the SLD show a DC-coupled battery system?
Yes. Describe the battery inverter-charger (e.g., SMA Sunny Island, Schneider XW+) and ChatDiagram will draw the DC bus, battery bank, and AC output connections in the SLD.
