What an activity-on-arrow diagram is.
An activity-on-arrow, or AOA, diagram places each activity on an arrow. The circles or nodes are events: points reached when incoming work is complete.
AOA is an older project-network convention that is useful when the event milestones matter. In activity-on-node diagrams, the activities are boxes instead.

Common questions
What is an activity-on-arrow diagram?
It is a project network where arrows represent activities and nodes represent the events at their start and finish.
How is AOA different from AON?
AOA places work on arrows and events at nodes. AON places work in nodes and uses arrows for dependencies.
What do AOA nodes represent?
They represent events or milestones reached when the activities entering the node are complete.
Can I add activity durations?
Yes. Include a duration with each activity so the network can be used for schedule analysis.
