What a classroom layout is.
A classroom layout is a floor plan of one room, drawn around how it is used: where students sit, where the teacher stands, and how people get to the door, the sink and the storage.
Drawn to scale, it answers the questions that matter before any furniture moves: does it fit, can everyone see the front, and is the way out clear.

Common questions
What should I tell it?
The room size, what the room is for, how many students, and how you want them seated. Anything you leave out is chosen sensibly and can be changed afterwards.
Can I switch between rows and groups?
Yes. Say 'change the rows to groups of four' and the layout is redrawn in the same room.
Is it drawn to scale?
Yes. Rooms, furniture and door swings use real dimensions in metres or feet, so what fits on the plan fits in the room.
Can I plan labs, preschool rooms and computer rooms?
Yes. Lab benches, round and kidney tables, rugs, bookcases, sinks and computer desks are all available as furniture.
What are good classroom layout ideas?
Rows facing the front suit lectures and tests. Pairs keep a front focus but allow partner work. Groups of four to six suit projects and discussion. A U-shape puts everyone in view for seminars. Learning stations around the edge suit rotations. Try two or three and compare them on the plan before moving furniture.
How should a preschool classroom be laid out?
In learning centres: a circle-time rug big enough for the whole group, a quiet reading corner, tables for art and meals near the sink, and open floor for block play, with clear sightlines so one adult can see every corner.
