What a firewall diagram is.
A firewall diagram shows the network zones a firewall separates and the systems on each side. It normally identifies the internet edge, DMZ, internal networks, VPN endpoints, and the servers or users that need access.
The important part is the boundary and the permitted path across it. Label links with protocols, ports, or purpose when that detail helps a security review or an operations handoff.

Common questions
What should a firewall diagram show?
Show firewall devices, the zones they separate, systems in each zone, and the traffic paths that cross those boundaries.
What is the difference between a perimeter and internal firewall?
A perimeter firewall filters traffic between the internet and an organization; an internal firewall separates networks within the organization.
How do I show firewall rules in a diagram?
Label a connection with its allowed protocol, port, or business purpose, and keep the arrow direction consistent with the flow.
Why include a DMZ?
A DMZ places public-facing systems in a separate zone so they do not sit directly on the internal network.
