The drawing

What a Heikin-Ashi chart is.

A Heikin-Ashi chart is a candlestick chart calculated from averaged price values rather than each period's raw open and close. That smoothing reduces visual noise and can make the direction and persistence of a trend easier to see.

It is a trend-reading view, not a replacement for raw OHLC prices. Use the original price chart when you need the exact open, high, low and close for a specific session or trade record.

FAQ

Common questions

What makes Heikin-Ashi different from a regular candlestick chart?

Heikin-Ashi candles are calculated from averages of current and prior prices, while regular candles show each period's raw open, high, low and close. The result is a smoother visual trend.

Can I use my own OHLC data?

Yes. Paste the dates and open, high, low and close values, then specify that you want a Heikin-Ashi view. Check the source data carefully before using the chart for analysis.

What do consecutive same-color Heikin-Ashi candles suggest?

A run of candles in the same direction can indicate persistent momentum in the smoothed series. It is an observation, not a trading signal on its own, and should be considered with price, risk and other evidence.

Can I add volume or moving averages?

Yes. Ask for a volume panel or a moving-average line together with the Heikin-Ashi candles when those additional measures are part of the view you need.
