What a Venn diagram is.
A Venn diagram uses overlapping shapes to show the relationship between sets. Each separate region contains members unique to one set, while an overlap contains members shared by the sets that meet there.
It is useful when the count or content of every intersection matters. Start with two or three sets for the clearest result, then add labels or values that let a reader compare the regions.

Common questions
What is a Venn diagram?
A Venn diagram is a visual representation of relationships between sets using overlapping circles or other shapes. Each region identifies items that belong to one set, multiple sets or neither shared group.
How do I make a Venn diagram online?
Describe the sets and their overlaps in plain language. Add a label, count or list for each region you need to show, then ask for changes to the sets or values.
How many circles should a Venn diagram have?
Two or three circles are usually easiest to read. Four can work when each intersection is important; for many sets, a table or an UpSet-style comparison is often clearer.
What is the difference between a Venn diagram and an Euler diagram?
A Venn diagram shows every possible intersection among its sets, including empty ones. An Euler diagram shows only the relationships that actually exist, such as a subset or a disjoint group.
