What a Venn diagram is.
A Venn diagram displays sets as overlapping circles or shapes. A region belonging to one circle holds items unique to that set, while an overlapping region holds items the relevant sets share.
Use a Venn diagram to compare a small number of categories at once. It makes set differences and intersections visible, whether the regions contain counts, percentages or named items.

Common questions
What is a Venn diagram?
A Venn diagram is a diagram of sets that uses overlapping circles or shapes. It shows items unique to each set and items shared by two or more sets.
How do I make a Venn diagram?
Describe the groups you want to compare, then specify the shared regions, counts or items that belong in them. You can refine the result by asking to add a group or change a value.
Can a Venn diagram have four circles?
Yes. A four-circle Venn diagram can show four sets and their intersections, but it becomes dense quickly. Keep labels short and use it only when readers need to compare all four sets.
What should I put in a Venn diagram overlap?
Put the items, count or percentage that belong to every set touching that region. For example, the overlap of two customer lists contains people who are in both lists.
