What a velocity chart is.

A velocity chart shows how much work one agile team completes across sprints, usually in that team's story points. Bars make changes in completed work visible and can show the difference between a commitment and what reached the definition of done.

Velocity is a local planning measure, not a productivity ranking. Teams estimate differently and work under different conditions, so use the chart to forecast and improve within the same team rather than to compare teams.
